Cate O’Keefe is the owner and Principal Consultant for Fishery Applications Consulting Team, a Woman-Owned Small Business in Dartmouth, MA specializing in science-based solutions for sustainable marine management. Prior to launching Fishery Apps in 2020, Cate served as the Marine Science and Policy Manager for MA Division of Marine Fisheries and the Policy Director for the Massachusetts Marine Fisheries Institute from 2016 to 2020. Cate served in numerous roles, including Associate Research Professor and Program Manager of the Marine Fisheries Field Research Group at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST) dating back to 2006. Cate currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the New England Fishery Management Council’s Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC) and is the President of the American Institute of Fishery Research Biologists. She received a B.A. from Hampshire College, a M.S. from Boston University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Cate lives in South Dartmouth with her husband Steve Cadrin.
